Future of Real Estate Marketing: Flip Sells a Million Video Cameras

  • Richierich · 1 year ago
    Hi Joel,

So here we are, all four thousand of your readers, waiting for the day when we can watch you deliver your daily blog post via live video... sounds like a plan to me!

I'm wondering if video footage will have any better influence on the loss mitigators in a short sale package, vs regular old photos....?

    Thanks for the update,

    Richard :)

That sounds like a gauntlet being dropped Richard.. :)

I will definitely think about how I can use video in my posts... just not quite ready for primetime yet.

Talking of gauntlets and accountability, my partner Kevin Lacasse and I have
a notorized document entitled "The Fallen Gauntlet Challenge", whereby the
two of us are in a race to 200 rental units. If I win, Kevin has to teach me
how to play golf and how to weld, and if Kevin wins, I have to teach him how
to snowboard and be his personal fitness trainer for three months!

..the score so far? I was at 15, but now down to 7, whereas Kevin is over
130! Guess I got some catchin' up to do, huh?

    Best wishes,

    Richard :)

Is there an advantage to using this (besides the video quality- which I know is important) over a SmartPhone with a built in camera for a quick shoot and upload. It would seem that the SmartPhone would be quicker to email/upload to various places...

I'm going to get me one of those babies, and not just because they come in pink :-) I had my reservations due to Mac compatibility, I read some very biased reviews on places like TechCrunch that put me off a bit, but it seems there's always been workarounds...although if Apple themselves have sorted it out then that's perfect. I'll mainly be using mine for vlogging, interviews and some little neighbourhood tours. Thanks for the reminder to place my order :-D

We just got one of these and it's easier to use than our $1,000 video camera. We've been using it to do walk thrus of our listings. It's great!

@Poppy - we use it with Mac without a problem.

Hmmm. Oddly, I have the current version of Quicktime Pro and IMovie and can't use the Flip AVI's in either without first converting to MP4. Fun little camera though.

    I love my flip!

This looks awesome. Although, John is right on in that in the next few years, all phones will have video options. Until then, the Flip looks to be top class.

What an awesome tool to get testimonials on, before long the iphone will have this technoloy
in it, and all anyone will need to carry is their cell.

Yes the Flip is pretty impressive. It's the 'YouTube' of Video Camcorders. They made video easy for the beginner and I commend them for a job wel done, excellent product! That said, the camera does not make 'Video Production' easy. There's a big difference between shooting a video and the art of video production.

Quick note: This video camera from Kodak (due Oct 1) might give Flip a run for it's money. Although Kodak has a lot of catching up to do, they're behind 1 million to nothing.

Flip is a great little and inexpensive camera that any real estate agent or investor can use to record their flips, houses, and everything in between. The great thing with that camera that its easy to use, easy to hook up to your computer and upload your video to YouTube.

One quick tip for those who do walk through video of their homes. When you walk around the house with your camera, bend your knees a little to minimize shaking and allow the video for a more natural flow. :)

that is great that they are making it easier for the non-technical crowd :). Although I am on the technical side, I think innovations like the Flip will help real estate professionals to get more targeted information to their audience.

Especially on the video side it should be a good tool to see real documentation of neighborhoods, etc. True melding off offline and online worlds.
